Ron Meuck

March 19, 2010

I went to see Ron Meuck’s exhibition at Manchester Museum a few weeks back. The painstaking attention to detail is exceptional.

“Ron Mueck’s hyper-real sculptures of the human figure are tender portrayals of people in their most intimate, isolated and vulnerable moments.”

Exposing people’s private moments creates a voyeuristic fascination within the audience. The scenes are so simple yet so intriguing. I felt very self-conscience as I got up-close to ‘Wild Man’s’ forearm, but I couldn’t drag myself away. Every hair, raised vein and patch of pale skin is so realistic it plays tricks on the mind.
