Week1: Day 3: 1 hour drawing challenge

July 4, 2011

So, it’s Friday night and the last thing I want to do is sit down and draw. It’s only day 3 and I’m already wavering. I find that it’s a constant battle with my conscience.

On one side, it’s only 1 measly hour, 1 hour that you will spend pottering around the garden or watching TV. 1 wasted hour from which you have nothing to show for, produced nothing and will be lost forever (My conscience is extremely dramatic) unless you sit down and draw. You actually enjoy drawing when you start and think of the gratification when you’ve finished.

On the other side; you’ve been working all day, the weekend starts here. The sun is blazing outside and the beer garden is calling. It won’t matter if the ‘challenge thing’ slides, 1 day, 1 hour isn’t that important, you can catch up tomorrow.

Procrastination is my biggest foe and my major failing, but so far it’s yet to get the better of me. Below are the results…

I’m pretty competitive and the challenge has enabled me to have a winning argument over the lazy side of my conscience. It also brings out my competitive side and constantly challenges me, without having a daily goal; I have nothing to fail and nobody likes loosing.

I sat in the garden (in the glorious sunshine) and drew. Now I have something to show for my time and day 3 of the first week.

Next challenge: week 1 photo project
